Criminal Law and Damages

Our lawyers have solid experience in assisting clients in criminal matters. We assist both suspects and defendants, as well as injured parties (victims of crime), through the different stages of the criminal process.

Although our lawyers have built a profile in several criminal trials that have received extensive public attention, we understand that every case is always a major matter for the client, and we assist our clients in a client-oriented manner in cases of all kinds and sizes in order to achieve the best possible outcome.

Our law firm’s special expertise includes assisting, among others, in the following types of criminal cases: aggravated narcotics offences, sexual offences, homicide and violent offences, offences against children, property offences such as robbery, theft, fraud and embezzlement, as well as occupational safety offences and other so-called white-collar crimes, such as accounting offences, tax fraud and dishonest debtor offences.

In particular, it is often important for a suspect to obtain legal assistance as early as possible after learning that they are suspected of a criminal offence. Depending on your financial situation, you may already have the possibility to have the costs of legal assistance covered by state funds. In addition, whenever you are detained or remanded in custody, or suspected or accused of a serious offence, our attorneys may be appointed as your defence counsel for the pre-trial investigation and court proceedings, in which case the costs of your defence are primarily covered by state funds.

A victim of crime (injured party) should also contact a lawyer at an early stage and at the latest when the court asks the injured party to present claims. Assessing appropriate claims and presenting them can be challenging in an already stressful court process. Depending on their financial situation, a victim of crime may also be entitled to legal aid funded by the state. In addition, if you have been the victim of a sexual offence, serious violence or domestic violence, the court may appoint one of our attorneys as your free legal counsel for the pre-trial investigation and court proceedings, in which case the state pays the counsel’s fee regardless of your financial situation. Legal expenses insurance, which is typically included in home insurance, also covers the victim’s legal costs when the victim has compensation claims based on the offence.

Sometimes damage occurs without any crime. Our experienced attorneys assist you in damages matters whether you are the party who caused the damage or the party who suffered it. It is advisable to contact a lawyer as early as possible in order to avoid loss of rights. In damages matters, both the party who caused the damage and the party who suffered it usually have the possibility to have their legal costs covered by legal expenses insurance. Depending on your financial situation, you may also be entitled to legal aid funded by the state to cover legal costs.

Our attorneys will assess, on a case-by-case basis, your possibilities to have your legal costs covered by your insurance or by state funds, and we will submit the necessary applications on your behalf.

Criminal and damage situations can be difficult and court proceedings stressful, but with experience from hundreds of assignments, our attorneys will ensure the best possible outcome for you. Feel free to contact us and we will assess together your need for legal assistance.
